Mount Holly sits right along the Catawba River in Gaston County, and its housing stock reflects the town’s mill-era roots — a lot of homes here are older, which means humidity control and system-age issues come up more often than they might in a newer subdivision.
About Mount Holly, NC
Mount Holly is located just west of the Catawba River, north of I-85, about 12 miles northeast of Gastonia and roughly between Charlotte and Gastonia. The area saw its first colonial land grants around 1750, and the town — originally called “Woodlawn” — was renamed in 1875 after the Mount Holly Cotton Mill, the fourth mill built in Gaston County and the oldest one still standing today. Mount Holly was incorporated in 1879 and has grown steadily since, from about 9,600 residents in 2000 to over 17,700 in 2020 — nearly 30% growth over two decades. Its historic downtown still carries housing stock from the late 1800s and early 1900s.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does living near the Catawba River affect humidity levels inside my home?
It can, especially in older homes without modern vapor barriers or sealed crawlspaces — we can evaluate whether humidity control equipment would help.
My home is from the early mill-town era — will my ductwork need work too, or just a new unit?
It depends on the home. We inspect existing ductwork before recommending equipment, since older duct systems weren’t always designed for modern units.
Do you offer dehumidifiers or whole-home humidity control, not just AC?
Yes, we install whole-home humidification and dehumidification products as part of our air quality services.
How do I know if my system needs replacing versus another repair?
Age, repair frequency, and efficiency all factor in — we’ll give you a straightforward read on the tradeoffs on-site.
